Something Someone Told Me that I'll Never Forget
Years ago, when I was a wee little college student, I had a professor who came to see every play I was in. We'll call her Dr. A. One day I was waiting on my adviser, and Dr. A's door was open, so she started chatting. She was complimenting me on a performance from that weekend when she accidentally blurted out the sentence, "I really think you're wasting your time in Education. You should just move to New York and act."
Then it was awkward because she tried to back-track by saying, "I mean... not that education isn't great! And not that you won't be a good teacher! I'm sorry!"
I think that she thought I was offended, but I wasn't. That was the best compliment I've ever gotten.
Now for the scary part! I've decided to finally listen to that advice. I'm not moving to New York or anything, but I am going to begin pursuing theater as a career very soon, and I may not be teaching much longer either. It's a scary step because I'll lose my security blanket and have a financially weird period (which I should be used to because my whole life is financially weird). But, I am so excited!
So, thanks, Dr. A. You offhandedly helped me make a life-altering decision years down the road! Huzzah! Now if I end up homeless and depressed, I can blame it on someone else! Just kidding. Maybe.

Oh wow!! I am so excited for you! And I am so honored to know this information!! It's like we are trying to pursue our dreams together ( even though i'm still trying to figure out specifics..ha!). But after having almost been graduated for a year, and after having worked at Cato for a whole month in total, I really feel i need to buckle down and really figure out which direction i want to go. And really work my ass off at pursuing whatever it is that i decide to do. We can definitely support each other along the way! I fully support you, because i know this is your ultimate dream, and i KNOW you can make it happen! :D
