Day 1 of 30DWC- 10 Things That Make Me Happy

I definitely developed a well-thought-out answer to this before bed last night. I then promptly left my notebook on my nightstand, and I don't have the interwebz yet, so I am forced to rethink my list and post from school. How professional.

  1. Coffee - Oh, lifeblood. My one true love. You know who never lets me down? Coffee. You know who's there for me at work and at home? Coffee. You know who doesn't judge me when I get home at 7:00, put on pjs, and eat cake for dinner? Coffee. It's the bees knees.
  2. David - The literal, actual love of my life. Please forgive the mushy nature of the next few sentences. There could not be a better person out there for me. Seriously. David is the most supportive and kind individual on this planet. Did you know that I once considered packing up and moving to Thailand? I did. It was recently. I told David about it, worrying that he'd be negative or decide that we couldn't handle the distance. Instead, he said "Thailand would be a really cool adventure. Let's go!" We didn't go, obviously, but he was totally willing to leave everything here and follow me across the world. What a lovely Poophead I have.
  3. My Dogs - Even though Sugar is mean to other people, Polly poops out of fear, and Monster is...herself, I love my dogs.
  4. Waking Up Early With Nothing To Do - I am not a party person. I am not a planner. When I have the (very rare) day off, my favorite thing to do is nothing. I like being awake at 7:00 with absolutely nothing on my plate for the day. It just makes me feel good, you know?
  5. Being Onstage - My absolute favorite place in the world is on a stage. Any stage, as any role, in any theater. I'm happy. In fact, tomorrow's post will shed some light on just how much I love acting. Stay tuned! J/k this is the internet. You don't "tune" into it. This isn't 1950, Bowman. Calm down.
  6. Petrichor - (def.) a pleasant smell that usually accompanies the first rain after a long period of warm, dry weather - How stinking perfect is that?!
  7. Surprises - Of any type. Parties, presents, announcements, diarrhea... well, maybe not any type of surprise. But generally, I love them.
  8. Cosplaying/Conventions - My favorite thing to do at a con is people-watch. The "cool" thing to do right now in our society is to act like you don't care. About anything. That is so stupid! Getting excited about stuff is what makes life worth living! At conventions, everyone is just a big ball of excitement over the nerdiest stuff you can imagine. It's beautiful.
  9. The First Day That Isn't 5,000 Degrees - I know we agree on this one. Hot weather sucks. Since we live in Tennessee, there's no rhyme or reason to how the weather will behave from day to day. Thus, the first day of September/October that's below 80 is so fantastic. I just want to sit outside at a bonfire and breathe.
  10. Reading My Bible - I can't be in a bad mood reading the word of God. While I read, I keep a journal of things that speak to me while I read. Usually there is some fantastic nugget of wisdom I can't live without. (Even in the chapters that just list names on and on.) It's my security blanket and motivation every day. I'm so thankful that we can freely worship and read in this country.
I shall leave you with my favorite quote from Catcher in the Rye because it's appropriate to the post:

- Bowman
